By Scott Badesch, President/CEO, Autism Society of America
How do you envision a better world for autism and all those impacted by autism spectrum disorder? At the Autism Society we seek a nation where each person with an autism diagnosis can obtain the highest quality of life with full dignity, value and respect by all. This April, we will be sharing from our lens what a “Better World for Autism” means and what can be done to provide a more inclusive, self-determined life for all individuals with autism across the United States! How can you help make our country a better nation for autism? Let others know the importance of assuring the highest quality of life and value for all individuals living with autism. Take time to thank and help family members who work each day, as they do with all of their family members, to provide the best for their brother, sister, daughter, son, grandchild, nephew or niece with autism. Thank professionals who teach, inspire, and energize family members and individuals with autism to succeed at all levels of life. Autism is more than awareness! It is acceptance, embracement, appreciation, value, and dignity. Let’s join together in April to change our great nation into a more inclusive, welcoming place for all, especially those impacted by autism. Take action and let April be your springboard! Check out our website for activities and events that celebrate individuals with autism and their families.

Religious Organizations Embracing Alternative Energy including Temple Ner Tamid in LV Area!!
Solar Spirit
March 6th, 2014 › Clean Energy, Renewable Energy, Solar › Charlie Coggeshall ›
This blog complements “40 Religious Groups Practicing Creation Care with Wind Turbines,” posted February 23.
Solar energy represents an opportunity to reduce one’s impact on the environment, while also potentially saving money. It makes sense then, that faith-based organizations, which are often strapped for cash and devoted to environmental stewardship, would see the benefit of incorporating solar systems at their places of worship. This is true across cultures and includes example’s from a wide range religious beliefs. This blog, written in conjunction with the season of Lent which started for most Christian faiths this week, provides 50 widely-varied examples of this “enlightening” reality playing out in the Southeast, as well as other parts of the country and world. Note that this list is by no means comprehensive – there are countless more faith-based groups that have pursued solar projects in the U.S. and abroad. Spoiler: the smallest independent city-state in the world is also the greenest thanks to solar!

Ellen’s Oscars Selfie Beats Obama Tweet Record; Did It Crash Twitter? from Deadline.com
My wife is a huge fan of the Oscars, and I am a tech and autism blogger, so I was intrigued by the tweet that Ellen Degeneres did at the Oscars 2014, that crashed twitter. I wish our tech and autism news efforts were that popular.
I was intrigued by the whole pizza thing, and found it to be funny, different and compelling. My wife and I are fans of Ellen Degeneres and have been for many years. I would love to go on her show to talk about life with autism.
The following is an interesting but brief piece on the whole situation–>
UPDATE, 8:00 PM: In less than an hour Oscar host Ellen DeGeneres beat President Obama‘s Twitter record for Twitter retweets. Ellen’s on-the-fly pic with Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence, Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts, Meryl Streep, Kevin Spacey, and more is racking up the Twitter love with over 1M RTs and over 720K favorites and counting.
PREVIOUS, 7:30 PM: Twitter crashed for a brief time Sunday night — shortly after Ellen DeGeneres piled a dozen Oscar nominees and attendees into one selfie during the Oscars telecast in an attempt to break the record for most re-tweets. Even the Academy apologized for contributing to the Twitter traffic jam. Coincidence?

AT&T Invests Nearly $200 Million Over Three-Year Period To Enhance Local Networks In Las Vegas Area
LAS VEGAS, March 4, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — AT&T* has invested nearly $200 million in its best-in-class wireless and wired networks in the Las Vegas area between 2011 through 2013, driving a wide range of upgrades to enhance speed, reliability, coverage and performance for residents and business customers.
Advancing its Project Velocity IP (VIP), an investment plan to expand and enhance its wireless and wired IP broadband networks, AT&T in 2013 made more than 100 network upgrades in the Las Vegas area, including new cell sites, addition of wireless network capacity, and new broadband network connections.
“Las Vegas residents depend on our fast and reliable Internet connections more and more every day, whether it’s instant access to files and apps at work, watching a video at home, or even receiving updates from connected cars or home monitors,” said Stephanie Tyler, president of AT&T Nevada. “AT&T is making robust investments locally to make sure that residents can take full advantage of the latest services and tools, and that businesses have the speed they need to compete and grow.”
Notable Las Vegas network enhancements in 2013 included expanding AT&T 4G LTE coverage in the area and completing the installation of a new 4G LTE-capable Distributed Antenna System (DAS) at The Venetian and The Palazzo Resorts and Sands Expo convention center.
AT&T’s network investment has resulted in a 4G LTE network that has been recognized for its speed, reliability and coverage. AT&T’s 4G LTE service was recognized as having faster average download and upload speeds than any of its competitors in PCWorld/TechHive‘s most recent speed tests inLas Vegas. PCWorld/TechHive also ranked AT&T’s as the fastest combination of 3G and 4G services in the 20 cities it tested.**
AT&T provides the nation’s most reliable 4G LTE network today, covering nearly 280 million Americans with 4G LTE service. AT&T’s 4G LTE deployment is ahead of schedule, with plans for the deployment to be substantially completed by the summer of 2014.
AT&T operates the nation’s largest Wi-Fi network*** including more than 32,000 AT&T Wi-Fi Hot Spots at popular restaurants, hotels, bookstores and retailers, and provides access to more than 529,000 hotspots globally through roaming agreements. Most AT&T smartphone customers and U-verse customers get access to its entire national Wi-Fi network at no additional cost, and Wi-Fi usage doesn’t count against customers’ monthly wireless data plans.
